You know that wonderful tasting table-side guacamole you always order at your favorite Mexican restaurant? Well, you can recreate it at home. Here’s how:

Ingredients:

  • ripe avocados (you can tell they are ripe when they have dark skin and are squishy)
  • red onion
  • roma tomato
  • salt
  • lime or lemon
  • tortilla chips

Directions:

  • First step of the guacamole making process is to dice the tomato and red onion. For one avocado, I usually chop up one slice of red onion and three slices of a roma tomato. These amounts can be adjusted depending on how many people you are feeding and how much guacamole you want. I found that a little bit of onion goes a long way, so a slice or two will usually do.
  • Next, smash up the avocados in a bowl, the most entertaining part of course! Because they are the main ingredient of guacamole, the amount of avocados you need will depend on how much guacamole you need. After cutting them open, use a spoon to remove the pit, scoop the inside into a bowl and mash.
  • The recipe calls for a little bit of a citrus taste, which is where the lemon or lime comes in.
  • Next, add the onion and tomatoes and mixed it all together.
  • Finally, dash in some salt, in which the amount really just depends on your own taste.
  • Mix it all together and violà guacamole!! Now, break out the chips!

I must say, this guacamole really hits the spot! I have found a few other recipes that call for cilantro and garlic to the taste, so maybe I will experiment with those next time. If you prefer a little spice, try adding in some chopped jalapeños. Enjoy!
